I'm Cara Johnston, an actor and emerging playwright originally from Dallas, Texas. I love editing Wikipedia articles, visiting historical sites, and watching classic movies.
My writing often blends humor and heartache to tell stories of doomed glamour, isolation, and theatricality.
My plays have premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, appeared on PBS, and earned recognition from the Tennessee Williams Literary Festival. My play Great White Throne will be produced by Renaissance Theaterworks in its 2026–27 season.
As an actor, I've performed at theatres in Texas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, and Scotland. Favorite roles include Cherie in Bus Stop and the title role in Medea.
I split my time between Dallas, where I work with my sister, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I live with my husband and my pet bunny.
